Is the GTI clutch the same as ED30?
« on: March 03, 2009, 08:05:54 pm »
Getting paranoid after reading about clutch slip issues on here! :scared:

Gone back to a lower power (270bhp) map to keep the torque down.

Understand I could get slip in 5th & or 6th gear if running the full monty 300BHP map

yes its the same

Reading your reports have made me paranoid!

Do you think the 270 map would have a low enough torque figure to help the clutch?

ALso if it did go is it VWR clutch the best/only option?

CHeers

Thanks for that.

I am lucky its a weekend car, but that means its always has its neck rung most of the time over that period

Do sachs offer a replacement clutch thats an upgraded original type?

I believe your running a padle type clutch? how is it, bedded in yet?

yes they do and yes mines the paddle type race clutch with vw pressure plate so the pressure is still the same but the bite from the friction plate is more grabby ie once its on there is no letting go  and its not beddeed in yet but its getting better

when i had a very simlar sachs item on my early S3 it took about 800-1k miles to bed in properly, once it did, and I was used to it it wasn't much different to std, in fact the misses got on better with it than I did
