RNS MFD2 SAT NAV CD
« on: August 31, 2010, 08:39:45 pm »
Dont know if anyone can help me, I have a problem with my in car sat nav system. Just bough a MK5 which has an RNS MFD2 CD based nav system. Since ive had the car I cant get the sat nav disc to work. The system plays a music CD no problem if I insert it, just when I insert the navigation CD it says 'disc read error' The disc was quite scratched so ive cleaned it up and now its says 'incompatible CD' weird. I think the unit itself is not faulty as it wouldnt play the music CD. Anyone know of another disc I can try, or anyone living near Cardiff with a similar system before I take the plunge and shell out for a new CD from VW. Any help would be great.

Someone I know popped down last week and he has a DVD based MFD2 and when we tried his disc it said 'disc read error' I think mine is the CD version as the sat nav disc (a copied one) which was in the glovebox when i bought is a CD.

so your nav disc is a ccopied one??? have you tried an original disc? i read somewhere that if the disc is not burned at the slowest speed it wont work,

i have the dvd version and when i got it the was badly scratched but it still worked..

If the disc has not been burned using suitable software then it won't work as it has disc protection.

That is almost certainly the cause of your problems.

Hi, Stu! I saw you can do the PIN recovery for the RNS MFD2. Can you please help me in this matter? I have this hardware: 1T0 035 194C, serial n. VWZ1Z7E5239229. Everything ok, until I toked it of my car. Than it lost the PIN and was not possible to use it. So, if you can do something, I will apreciate a lot.

Hi Eddie!
Can you please help me to have the code for my RNS MFD2? I took it off my car to replace the broken display and when I put it back asked me the code...that I don´t have. The serial n. of the hardware is VWZ1Z7E5239229.
Thank´s!

Hi

Sorry, can't help with that.

You will either need to use someone who has access to the VW database or goto your local dealer

Ok, thank you anyway. But I prefer to avoid the local dealer, until there is no other option. From two days ago I´m the owner of a licenced VAGCOM and a copy of ELSAWIN. A bit of independence!
Have a nice weekend, man!
