Whistle even with DV Rev D
« on: March 31, 2011, 10:17:48 am »
Swapped the Diverter valve after a few weeks of owning the car and found 6 hoes/slits in it  :surprised:

Since then it's been ok, had a Revo trial which was great though I really notice a whistle while accelerating. This is supposed to be very feint though it's noticeable even with the windows up.

Anyone any suggestions? Sounds like a boost leak but can this be easily diagnosed?

You should still have a whistle from the Turbo spinning, or you could have a split pipe somewhere else.  Best bet is to VCDS log your boost.

Check the DV is still nice and tight then check for boost leaks elsewhere, if your previous DV was loosing boost then the rest of the system probably hasnt been under pressure for awhile and REVO map will have upped the amount supplied so it could have blown a hose or split a hose that was on its way out.

My old gti did this, sounded like an air leak on the turbo intake pipe (as if it was right behind the dash clocks) but never found the cause, so gave up looking, then one day it stopped, very odd one.

Well Paramount said it ran great and couldn't find any faults and the dyno showed no lose in boost.....

Still think it's loud....more so since the remap...

Need someone to come on a  :driver: with me a have a listen.

Working unfortunately  :sad1:

Off to Park Royal after work to DPD....

Would need a road to 'test' the whistle....not sure Harrow has many off them, or do they.

Well here are the Dynos....

214 was Stock Revo
182 was Revo valet after they tried reading the map (sneaky gits)
229 was straight after remap - been told they will re dyno the car next Friday and if it's not improved (they say it should by around 8bhp) then they will continue to tweak the map.  :happy2:
