CAI noise
« on: March 31, 2011, 02:50:49 pm »
My next modification is defo going to be a CAI, but I don't want the noise level to be to intrusive.

What is the best CAI out there to fit my needs??
Admin notice, sig pic removed for being to big.

evoms and ITG are probably the loudest.  Of all the intakes ive heard id say the twintake is the quietest, whilst it just so happens to be one of the top performing intakes available

Love my twintake,
The noise isn't too much, and I really do like the sound to be honest, so much so that I have taken the soundproofing off the bonnet.

Dbilas is by far the quietest, but probably the most expensive as well.

Another low noise vote for the Dbilas Induction set up from me, it's really stealthy quiet.

Cannot comment on the others as never had them but I personally didn't want a Group B rally car style chuffing and chirping under the bonnet and You Tube seems to have many noisy clips from various CAI's.

The Dbilas seems a quality bit of gear. The pipework feels the thickness of a jam jar so I guess when air is flowing through it that keeps the noise down. No expert thought behind that's just my guess.

I've tried in this order -

1.) EVOMs
2.) Dbilas
3.) ITG Maxogen

The EVOMs was by far the loudest and the Dbilas by far the quietest, obviously leaving the ITG in the middle.

I'd even refine my comments to say the EVOMS is intrusive all of the time i.e. normal driving and pushing on, the Dbilas only slightly noticable under normal driving conditions and idle and the ITG not at all noticble on idle and only noitcable under mid / heavy acclearation - but still not as loud as the EVOMS which sounded like someone had chopped a hole in my bulkhead somewhere.

All the above on mapped cars.

PS the Dbilas is going up for sale soon if anyone is interested PM me.

Oh and despite the fact that some having RR'd more than others I can't say my bum dyno notices a difference between all three  :driver:

Hi there, sorry if this is a stupid question. If you fit an air induction kit of some sort to a standard car will it affect the running/fueling etc of the car? Would you NEED to remap?

Thanks :)
