R32 Front Brakes Noise

fitted these all new from SEAT 500 miles ago,  I now need you guys to help me out on this one.....when i reverse back slowly and gently press the brake pedal i get a clock or click, it only happens when i press the brake pedal lightly and i have got OEM VW (Pagid) pads.....

Didnt happen before the upgrade....is it the pads rattling around?

How new and tight were the calipers/pistons?

Just thought, a real cheap and quick check is make sure that the brake disc retainer screw hasn't loosened or had it. They can sheer if left loose for some reason. This will create movement when you brake making the wheel spin slightly on the hub, knocking against the wheel nuts - had this on an old 20v turbo Fiat and it drove me mad for months. Just makes the whole car feel a bit tramp. Cheap fix if it is.

It's more likely to be the pads shifting ever so slightly! Given the torque on the wheel bolts I'd be amazed if the disc were moving at low speeds!

True but worth a check. Pads shouldn't move with that clonk though unless the carriers are worn or the pads aren't quite the right fit.
Got to be movement somewhere, Id have a look for someone who's got a pit and run the car back slowly as you described and have a real close look at the movement and noise. You'll find it instantly that way.

Sorry can't help more than that as the upgrade introduces new issues.

Pad might of delaminated from the rear of the housings, rather then a crack or broken pad, not imeadiatly obvious until you remove the pads from the caliper

Great point, I'll end up hypo when I hear a noise now taking wheels and pads out to check.

The Seat supplied ones seem to come with the '4B0' prefixed pads which for some reason dont have the clip on the rear of the outboard pad that clips in the carrier, if so this does allow a little movement on this pad and allows it to knock against the caliper body, worth a check?

mine does this too, my car is a mkv r32. cars only got 9000miles on it,
did take it to my local garage because my brakes were groaning too get em copper greased and ever since then it does it, when im reversing into my drive at slow speeds, is it because the pads are fitted back wrong, to tell you the truth never really noticed as i have my music on, but recently have noticed quite a bit, my car brakes spot on though, so not sure what it could be, any help is aprecaited
