ETKA help driver door controller 701C 004

Could someone with ETKA look up the use of the following part?
PART NUMBER 1K0 959 701C  004

I fitted this into my car today to try and enable folding mirror but VCDS had no label file and I couldnt get it to accept any coding that stopped it thinking it was a passenger side mirror!  The description on the ebay auction I bought it off states that it was superseded by

1K0959701G004 or 1K0959701G027 or 1K0959701L034 or 1K0959701LZ04

701L Z04 would mean driver module for RHD 4 door cars, if it is the right part does anyone have the right coding for it to tell it to be right hand steer or a copy of the label file so I can code it!  


I have had to remove the door card twice now and have a mirror thats folded in which I cant tell to un-fold

Earliest for our cars as a K, which went to L which had a few more features, then N which had mirror folding etc

Ive looked in ETKA at the C version you refer to doesnt actually exist? Well, anymore at least as it would have been superseded

Z04 is four doors, RHD.

I had K already in the door which has the min label file need L for the Max label file for folding and I was told that the part I bought was the previous to L Z04 but VCDS doesnt know it existes and couldnt recognise it    All a bit rubbish, I got the output test and it folded the mirror the wrong way and the indicator flashed on the right when indicating Left, so its clearly wired up as a max module but as default it thinks its LHD driver side and coding anything in the 512 and above number is out of range error 30 

Cheers for Looking Alex, got the other speakers in on the plus.  I just have a folded mirror which cant be moved out by hand without it going floppy and loose.

Sounds like its gonna need to be swapped for a K or if you can, an N as these do everything.

The door controller is a MIN1 version, which I had before I changed to the Max2 version. did you try your old one before? as some GEN2 min version will work with folding mirrors.

The ebay seller gave misleading info, by saying that a part for sale is the same as the newer ones. If you enter the part 701C (min) in etka it will tell you to use 701L (max) but they are different

Hey Eddie thank you for the information that would explain my issues, rather annoying since it has the right pin outs as the output test showed.  The K is back in the door everything else seems to be working but the folding isn't and my understanding is no coding is required with Gen 2 for fold, intrestingly the passenger controller also wont fold even though it is a max controller so I guess the driver isnt seeing the switch position so its missing the pins   

So I will begin the search again for the max gen 2, only issue is now the driver mirror isnt locked into place until I do as the motor has stopped in the folded position, anyone have any idea on how I can get it to unfold without the right controller?

the odd thing when I fitted mine was, I changed the controller on the drivers door and had 1 folding mirror fitted and it worked. If you remove the Purple and blue wires from the plug and feed a 12v supply it will fold out again although if it doesn't reverse the polarity

You don't need to code it for folding, but you will for the puddle light

All puddle lights are working just not the folding and as the passenger one wont I guess its a physical issue.  Will try the voltage across the mirror to move it back thanks for all the info Eddie.

One thing ive seen is that Golfman has a Gen 1 G controller in his car passenger side, it is a max module but as the output test was able to fold the mirror I wondered if the coding can be sorted for the C module?

Golfman if you see this could you tell me what the coding options are for the GEN1 controllers as I cant get the addition list up in VCDS I can take your coding of 0000054 and try that

Eddie any idea if this would work? I also guess that if the driver side was working as expected then it would fold as its directly connected to the switch, but the driver module (K version) doesnt know the folding switch position exists and is not relaying that information to the passenger module and so wont fold! 

Before spending more money Im going to re-fit the Gen 1 min module and try Golfmans coding hopefully that will tell it right hand steer car and it will stop picking up the left hand indicate can bus signal and reverse the electric fold polarity allowing it to function as a right hand mirror only issue could be ambient lighting.

I have been informed its definitely a RHD 4 door controller according to ETKA with part number and colour code.  Looking at various Gen1 codings none seem to be too far over 120 as the maximum number so I am hoping it just requires a smaller number as the coding I have tried has all been out of range but without the label file I couldnt get coding help within VCDS to see what options I needed to soft code for.

i have seen 0000052 and 0000054 used on gen 1, 54 is what golf man is using on his passenger side controller in a post in the folding mirror thread.

Does anyone know if the door control module itself shows up as a part number in ETKA?  little box is labelled 1K0 959 793 B  also states H08 SW 0019  guessing hardware 08 software version 19

Right so the coding that Golfman was using 0000054 and no joy, folding was enabled but it wouldnt change the indicator or the folding direction so all I can assume is the module is LHD or the control box has been switched out for a LHD one either way its Fubar 

Do people know if 1K0 959 701 G is a suitable controller?  Will it support folding and puddle light?  before I invest another £45 in a use-less controller

G is not suitable from what ETKA shows

Hmm  Golfman had a G working in the passenger side, its the only potentially suitable driver side I can find on ebay, does it say G was superseded by L?  as G would appear to have a max label.  Thanks for looking Alex.


Only other I can find is 1K0959701M but cant find reference to what M does or doesnt do.

It appears the control unit is available seperately looking at ETKA

M is just another revision between L and N
