Personally, I hope they do release one. They can make it 240PS, then give the R 300 to space it from the new car. Then I'll buy the R!

i think the R needs 300 tbh as i would have considered one but was very close to going 135i with DCT its cheaper! until i realised i couldnt really afford either!

 :jumpmove:

Like you say Nick, the .:R should have been 300 at a minimum. Only problem with that is what engine do you use? The current one with a map tweak, or the 2.5 5 pot and jeopardise the RS3 and steal it's thunder..
It would of been mint if the R did have the 5 pot engine (even detuned a little) and it would leave a nice space for the ED35 to slot in. As it stands, if VW just lob the KO4 engine in there, it's just going to be a Rocco R with different body panels and knowing VW, will probably cost close to 30k  :surprised:

Wouldn't suprise me if it didn't happen tbh. Or if it does, I feel a fettled GTI lump to be used with around 220-230bhp..  :sad1:

They will release the ED35 without any doubt.

And the R will stay at 270 HP. The difference between R32 and ED30 was just 20 HP.

2.5 TFSI 5-pot in a Golf VI is dreaming only.

- EA113 with K04
- ~ 240 HP
How's that any different to the ED30?

10 HP and Euro 5. That's all. Same engine as Cupra.
Maybe slightly different SW.

And where are you getting this surefire info from?

Any new anniversary model (not necessarily gonna be called Edition 35, is it?) wouldn't be out until around the end of the year anyway, so everyone has quite a few months to wait and find out.

Difference between the ED30 and the R 20bhp and haldex, so same between R and ED35 according to your info 20bhp plus haldex.  Or as someone else mentioned a Rocco R with different body panels

Rick, of course, the R32 had Haldex. But I did't meant that the only
difference between R32 and ED30 was 20 HP. There were many.

Simon, I said that it will be released in May/June.
I don't want to tell here where I know from, please understand.
Just proove me in a few weeks and you will know I'm right.

I didn't say that the car will be named ''ED35'' or ''Edition 35'',
we will see.
But an indicator is it will have a sticker on it's side.

I'm not the one telling lies in forums just to appear important.
Why should I tell such things and a few weeks later everybody
know I've told bullsh*t?

ps:
a GTI will never have 4-motion (the only GTI with 4wd was
the Golf II GTI G60 which came with syncro as an option,
all others came with front wheel drive only)

I think we just wanted to say that VW will not see any reason to push the R to 300 bhp.

Interesting stuff then Bruce.

250ps...ish!

That sounds like a E888 engine with a different turbo and cams. Just like the GTI to ED30 difference.  :jumping:

Hope it isn't just a cynical ECU upgrade with a few extra's thrown in  :scared:

Not a bad second option if it turns out that way :happy2:
Golf R gone.

No EA888 and so not just an ECU Upgrade.

VW have ready-to-build-in EA113 with K04.

So is it gonna be a 2.0TSI with K04 or the golf R engine which is basically an ed30 engine and therefore :stupid:

I know the TSi paired with the K04 is good for low 12 sec 1/4miles which is win in my book :jumping:
