Ah right, so is that even true of the Monza Shadows on the MK6? Are they ploughing on defiantly producing a wheel that corrodes after time?
Yes, I know quite a few that have had them replaced under warrenty. Infact i was offered some last week that were for sale that were 4 brand new replacments that had been replacments for some corroded ones that were only 18 months old.

Still no reason to dislike the wheel!

With the right care and maintenance there is no reason why the finish cannot last as long as many others.......

Had my Monza IIs for 4 years without any problems (I bought the car new in 2005 and sold it in 2009).

Unfortunately i think that in time it's inevitable that the Monza shadows will corrode, As Greeners has said with the right care it can be delayed but as soon as the lacquer is compromised any polished finish will start to go  :sad1:

Best bet is to avoid any harsh wheel cleaning compounds and touch up any stone chips to the lacquer and avoiding salty winter roads will help enormously too!

VW doesnt have a great recent history tbh, MK3 Anni and MK4 Anni wheels both corroded with VW eventually admitting defeat with the MK4 and making the warranty replacements painted finish, MK5 Monza 2s (including the ones on my new at the time GTi) are notoriously prone too and the MK6 version will eventually succumb imo..

My OEM BBS spilts on my A3 had a diamond cut lip and they were replaced under warranty for the new ones to do the same! I'm super careful with my car cleaning regime but cant stop the tiny chips to the lacquer that all year round use brings etc

You would think with paint technology nowadays they could come up with a close match to polished. My works had a silver anodised painted lip which was pretty close to polished but with a bit more of a mirror finish. Lasted perfectly well. Surely they could come up with something close.

I'm happy to take the risk as IMO there is no better finish and look to any OEM wheel!

Liking it in white quite a lot especially with the option (black inner) wheel. Not sure if I prefer this or the R though...

Had a good look, cannot find it anywhere, think it is still under wraps for the time being.

.
VW used Firespark when they launched the Scirocco but I don't think it became a colour option in the UK.

Some components of firespark were produced in Japan and this factory
was affected by the earth quake. So they cancelled this colour.

I'd go for carbon steel grey or for the classic GTI colours red, white, black.

Great shot as usual, Rich - Shows off that glorious metallic red colour. Such a shame it's cancelled.
