Every 6 months weeks for porsche :signLOL:

 :happy2:

The new C4 GTS looks lovely though. My second most perfect Porsche after a Turbo S. Followed a Boxster Spyder tonight as well, very nice in the flesh.
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

Mile-muncher ordered: MkVI 1.6 TDi BlueMotion Match DSG with leather, winter pack, luxury pack, fogs, climate control, Dynaudio pack, RCD510 with DAB & MDI, flat tyre indicator

Same milk bottle tops to stop you as the Ed30 then? Question is, does it have a KO4?

I've got a mate whos attempting to dig out an engine spec for me... I'm very keen to know. I think we could be looking at the first 'tuned' EA888 as it could well be part of the development process for the next gen. Golf. We'll have to wait and see.

So the same engine as the golf R then and basically the same as the Ed30 but chain driven. Whats the point in that :stupid:

I thought at least the ea888 tsi enigine with a k04 as standard. Alot of the yanks have been bolting K04's to the 210ps tsi engine with awesome results i.e high 11sec, low 12sec quarter mile times :surprised:

Doubt it would be an EA888 Lee... the S3/Ed30/TT-whatever blocks are all EA113 because that's had the engineering done for the higher power/torque ratings already and they're sold in such few numbers that they don't affect the fleet CO2 tremendously so there's no need for the EA888 unit in these "halo" cars. Up-engineering the EA888 would cost euros which wouldn't be worth it.

Neo

It's a power hike from 210ps to 235ps.

There is so much headroom in the EA888 that I very much doubt VW would resort to fitting the "old" engine.

Simple 2min remap of raising prolly 0.2 bar of boost would achieve that extra 25ps.

But what do I know eh! we need to see the engine bay!

* cmdrfire shrugs> the car industry works the way the car industry works. The hike from the Mk5 GTI to the Ed30 was around 30ps which is also easily accomplished by a remap alone but the uprated engine was put in.
I'll bet given the numbers that to avoid having to validate yet another powerplant it's probably an EA113 unit for the reasons described above... but you're right, proof is seeing the engine bay. Otherwise it's all just armchair speculation

It does sound like it will be a Mk6 version of the Ed30 and will share the same engine.. It's not the end of the world though I suppose. After all, a 360bhp Mk6 wouldn't be a bad motor..   Question is will it have the same size cooler etc as the Ed30, as we can see the brakes haven't been touched from the standard Mk6 (same as the Ed30 over the standard Mk5 GTI)..

the headroom on the old EA113 with K03 is a lot LESS than the EA888 with IHI K03 in my opinion. Just being in Wigit's car in S1 and S2 spec is enough..and seeing its current dyno numbers its almost like the RB26DETT by Nissan - over engineered by some margin!

There is also no HPFP issue like the EA113 had.

But it's still all speculation till we see some engine bay shots. Wonder why they didn't release any details of engine spec tho or engine pics.

There is no chain driven EA113. It's still belt driven.

And how do u know this??

Think it doesn't make any difference how I know it.
Believe me I have no reason to tell stories. Everbody will know the facts in a few days.
So why should I be an idiot and tell crap?

You really think VW would do a simple remap?
They never did it this way.

Sorry, that's absolutely wrong.
VW knows it better than you.

There is no speculation no more. EA113 + K04. That's it.

In that case, VW have gone backwards.

ED30 weighed 1406kg for a 5dr DSG and the ED35 weighs 1431kg for a 5dr DSG.

Looks like middle age spread is becoming an issue again :signLOL:

Mind you it is still lighter than a Golf R at 1571kg for a 5dr DSG :surprised:
Golf R gone.

Wow, you're beginning to sound like our old mate TT who used to post on here.

I bow to your superior knowledge in that case!  :notworthy:

A bit harsh chungster. TT was never a foe.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.
