Iphone/Ipod armrest adapter
« on: April 14, 2011, 09:19:51 pm »
I want to change my armrest CD changer for an ipod dock..

I have searched and found some very useful information, however i have two specific questions that hopefully someone may help with.

Is the dock a straight swap for the cd changer or do you have to remove the headunit also?

Will an iphone 3g and 4 work and charge with the armrest dock?

Thanks

Its a straight swap for the two units - same wiring

The iphone 3g and 4 will work, but they will not charge as it supplies a 12v feed instead of the 5v that newer ipods/iphones charge on

Alex,

Can you not get a 12v to 5v adaptor, just plugs into the 12v and plug your iphone into the other end and it charges it for you.
It is only a small plug about 1" in size.

Only a thought.

It's better to have Raced once in your life than be a Spectator for all of it.

You can but it raises the iPod too high to shut the armrest
