Brake Fluid check
« on: April 06, 2011, 12:37:29 pm »
Had my brake fluid changed as part of a four year service recently as well as new front pads and disks. A couple of weeks later, I got a Brake Fluid warning on the dash. Returned to the garage where they reckoned it may have been the float indicator had gotten a bit stuck. Upshot was, they showed me it, topped up the fluid and all was well. Now, a further couple of weeks later, the same is happening again.

To my (unknowledgeable) mind, it sounds like there's a slow leak somewhere; it had never happened until the car had its fluid and disks/pads changed. Is it possible someone's damaged a brake hose in this process or would I have noticed that the first time I stood on them? Just about to take it back to them; anything I should be saying/looking for?

Point out to them that in how ever long you have owned the car it has never done that until the discs/pads & fluid where changed.

Could be as simple as one of the bleed nipples not being tightened up properly - have a look in that area of all 4 wheels and see if you can see any fluid

Spot on; bleed nipple at the rear had been slightly unthreaded and was leaking a tiny amount. Hopefully that's it sorted. Cheers for the help.
