I personally would so you can put the car back to standard if / when it comes to selling. That said I sold my original headlights but they're not a major part. Intake, exhaust, suspension etc would be worth keeping.

I sell them on most the time. Get a few £ for them on ebay.
But parts like springs, downpipe, and air intake I have kept, as they don't take up much room.
You can always rebuy the parts pretty easily when it does come time to sell up.

I always keep the parts.  In general people don't want to buy modified cars so a return to standard is a better option allowing you to reuse the parts or sell and recover some ££.

Used OEM parts carry a very minimal value.

.
The sensible thing is to do as Stu suggests and keep them to put the car back to standard before selling. But since when have I been sensible!? I won't be putting mine back to standard if I sell - Far too much hassle and it would also break my heart.

RR, when you sell your car, it will be a loss to the MK5 community.

To OP, keeping your original parts means that you can refit them when taking the car back to standard.

Put it this way, original parts will fetch less money than aftermarket ones.
A stock car will gather more interest than a modified one. However, if you find the right buyer, you can sell your car in its modified state.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

....That's a huge compliment - Thank You!  :happy2: I'm not at all sure I'll ever sell my Mk5 - I hadn't driven her for a fortnight until Saturday when I drove non-stop (except for V-Power) for 476 miles on all sorts of roads and loved every mile. Do I really want to spend about £40k to go a little faster? - No, she's perfect for fast road safe enjoyment. What's not to love? A few squeaks and rattles occasionally. She's alive! As you so rightly say: "The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing"

I can easily see myself as that (even older) old geezer everyone knows who drives that nicely modded Mk5 GTI... Volks Folks will be saying "The Mk9 GTI is a great car but that Mk5 was a milestone".

IF I ever sell mine she'll remain modded and doubtless within the financial reach of a genuine young enthusiast. It would take more time to sell, but.

Ive got rid of the OEM mods I have swapped out, but the exhaust for example ill keep as this is a non OE mod.

Plus its often cheaper to buy the parts again when you need them as  the going rate has lessened  :signLOL:
