Forum questions

Excuse my ignorance on this but I haven't got a clue how the forums "work". Can somebody please tell me:

The hierarchy and people structure

Where it all gets controlled from

Is it manned 24 hrs a day?

What role the sponsors play

Are the servers in somebody's house? Garage?

I don't mean this to be offensive, I'm just unsure of how it all hangs together and works so bloody well! Any other info to help me and probably others would be much appreciated.

Regards,

John

Yes it's available 24/7. The site is looked after by me and the small team of moderators (Top Cat, Greeners and 182_Blue).

There is no hierarchy here, the site is run by and for it's members.

No sponsors are involved, that's why we ask for donations from the members.

The site is based on a Virtual Private Server located in London (in a datacentre in the docklands).

Thanks Steve,
Appreciate your response

So I take it you're working from home?
Sorry to go on, how did it get started, were you the creator?
Don't know about other members but I'm fascinated with this stuff!
I'll leave you in peace now,
Regards, John

Yes I created the site in October 2008 using some open source software called SMF.

Everything can be done remotely and doesn't need you to be physically in front of a machine, these days I can do 99% of stuff from my iPad.

Rumour has it that Steve P is actually a Davros like figure with a team of VAG Daleks and Doozers (off fraggle rock) and that Greeners, Top Cat and 182_Blue are actually a hive mind who are able to power the forum via a vibe of positive energy floating on some coilovers...
Diamond Black Pearl Edition 30, still going strong but now back to Stg 1

Don't pay no attention to Steve.

The truth is, the Sky Captain controls it all from his Zeppelin.

We are all in thrall to him now...
