Adaptor harness info....
« on: April 06, 2011, 08:43:15 pm »
I need a little bit of help really, I'm going to be fitting my Pioneer AVH-P4200DVD head unit from my old car into the Golf, now I've got the dash surround and I've also got a harness adaptor and aerial adaptor thingy lol, now the adaptor that I've got has 3 loose wires which I'm not too sure what I'm supposed to do with, they are a brown, red and yellow wire. Now my old Skoda didn't need a harness adaptor as it had the right plugs in it so this one is new to me.

Heres a quick pic....

Any help would be appreciated

I would guess that they are the switched live, perm live and ground you have there.

I'll try and find you some pictures that show what goes where,

Thanks, its the first time I've had loose wires like this, so don't know if they get connected to the car or the wiring on the head unit.

Most vw retro quad lock retro kits come with bullet crimp male and female on the RED and YELLOW and that let's you swap them around incase the head unit you are fitting needs a perm live on say the yellow and not the red as normal.

This kit looks like they want you to push home the wires into the correct slot once you've worked out which way around you'll need it.
