Is there any difference between a Millteck exhaust and TBE?
« on: April 08, 2011, 09:34:46 pm »
I have noticed that some of you say you have a TBE and others talk about a Millteck, is this the same thing or is a Turbo Back Exhaust a different type of exhaust? Thanks

You can have a milltek catback.
You can have a milltek sports cat and downpipe.
Or you can have both and have a TBE.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

TBE isnt a brand, its a description of 'turbo back exhaust' so you could have a Milltek, Scorpion, Blueflame (expect a long wait) or custom made TBE.

so am I right in thinking I could either have a TBE or cat back system? What are the differences between the two- is the turbo one better? Thanks

the TBE is the entire exhaust from turbo all the way to the tail pipes.

The TBE is split into 2 parts.

From the turbo to the centre part of the car is the downpipe and sports cat.  thisis where the erformance gains to be had.

From the centre part of the car to the tail pipes is the cat back exhaust.  2 types of cat back.  resonated=2 silencers, non resonated =1 silencer.  thsi is the noise part of the system

Got three options

cat back = sound
downpipe & sports cat (with a reducer) = performance
full tbe = both

is the oem exhaust very restrictive though so the tbe does offer a fair bit of extra grunt from the flow?
