MK6 steering wheel on to a MK5
« on: April 08, 2011, 05:45:43 pm »
 :driver:
Hi

I have recently bought a MK6 flat bottom steering wheel without the multifunction to put on to my MK5 golf gt sport without multifunction.  I have fitted it today but my horn doesn't work.  Please can any one help and give me part numbers or advice.

Thanks in advance

Colin

What Airbag loom are you using?
Does it have a black plug?

It's a yellow plug ,on the mk6 wheel there is also a small black plug which I don't have anywhere to plug it into

That is the problem.

You have a loom from a MFSW

You need a loom without the black plug, try using your old one

Hey Colin, just resurrecting this thread!

So to fit a Mk6 Non MF wheel to a Mk5 Non MF manual car, then no mods are needed as long as you have the correct airbag loom?

I was under the impression that if you wanted to fit any Mk6 wheel (even Non MF) you needed a C revision Slip ring and an updated CH steering wheel control module..

I'm not too fussed by multi function as I have an aftermarket stereo anyway. If this was plug and play then I'd definitely do this mod!

If you want MF you need those 2 parts, and if you have CC you need the mk 6 CC stalk also  :happy2:

Hey Danish,  Thanks for the reply :)

I don't want MF, and haven't got it currently.. Will I still need the control module? I was assuming from Colin's post above that I wouldn't...

Damn. I've got the little black plug too in my non MFSW wheel. I guess this supplier in Portugal (where they all seem to come from) only has MFSW Airbags. Does anyone know the correct loom I need to fit onto a non MFSW mk5?

Thanks!
