Rubber bits fell off during wash, but what are they?
« on: April 09, 2011, 04:15:03 pm »
I was jet washing today (at home) and when I had finished I found two rubber parts on the ground. They are the same shape as the blade part of a stanley knife, the bit that sticks out the handle, and about 1 cm thick.

The drivers door has lost it's 'thunk' so I am guessing I have washed of a door stopper or part of the seal but I can't see anywhere they would fit?

Any ideas?

Have you looked at the passenger door to see if you can find the same things?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Could they be from the hinge side of the door maybe? Would be hidden so not obvious and maybe there is some small impact point that they are there to protect?

Thanks Boothy/Stealthwolf,

I thought of that then realised I many have lost one from each side. And the door could be fine - it may be imagination playing tricks on me, they could have been jetted of from anywhere near a panel gap. But I am guessing front of car from where I found them near the front wheels. Will have a look under bonnet. It's a bit of a mystery though
