John_o also has the APR map and had a problem with his, that took quite a while to find, I think i am right in saying that there was a small error in the writing of the map which is all fixed now.

not usre if anyones taken the APR plunge on the oc, most have gone revo

nothing against revo at all it's my second contender, just scraping as much info together about the APR options before i commit to anything

Id thoroughly recommend Awesome and APR , I had my faith both dented and re-affirmed when I had a map issue.
But I still believe I made the right choice. (my second choice would be REVO)
remember not everything is posted on forums and its a small subset we tend to hear about.
Do lots of research and make your own mind.
Given that its NA then the criticality of EGR temps etc arent there so I dont think the risk is there quite the same as with a turbo car.
How about negotiating a long term trail from Awesome ?

Would you mind sharing why you decided to go with APR?  I have done a fair bit of research on this myself and have found the general feeling from the US forums is that the APR map may be more reliable long term due to things like AFRs, EGTs and timing.

I am in no way saying one map is more reliable than the other and would just like to get an insight as to why you decided to go with APR.

Heres my previous problem thread for some reading ...
flash stutter CEL APR stg1 Ed30 ......

tbh Im not an APR 'fanboy' as they call it. It just matched my criteria at the time after a lengthy decision process
I have previously stated the following as some 'criteria' you may wish to consider for a remap :

customer base (size)
customer feedback
type of customer profile
distance from you
cost
development time and resource to produce product
updates
are they VW specific or other makes too?
time in business for this specific car make
dyno plots (both from company and from forums , they differ greatly). shape is as, if not more important than ultimate numbers
AirFuelRatio data, EGR temp data etc
ability and type of switching , stock vs mapped mode
adjustable (only REVO can do this)

For me APR and Awesome combo gave me the match.
Remember its not just the map but the person/company putting the map on that matters especially if you have an issue
(which I did)
Awesome put a lot of time and effort into sorting my car for a problem created by APR, that cannot be underestimated when it would probably have been easier (and cheaper for them) to just take the map off and suggest another remap company.

However I like APR's ethos and generally the replies they give on the US forums  (some i dont like !)
I like the results and data for various parameters I have seen (EGR and A/F ratios especially), and the reasons behind them.
They are one of the few tuners to have produced a 'proper'HPFP (high flow really bacillus/vrStu ) which given the work involved and attention to detail you cant fault.

What is apparent is that as time moves on the knowledge and way these maps are applied is ever changing.
So whats valid is how people get on with TODAYs version of remaps , many posts are 3+yrs old and any issues may not longer be valid.

Remember that US cars are 91/93/95 maps, so UK experiences should carry more weight.
If I were to do it again it would be only APR or REVO (no disrespect to others but thats my conclusions at this point in time)

Ultimately do the research  :happy2: and make a choice  :happy2: and always asks questions even from  the people you trust

fwiw if i had an R32 im not sure Id be getting a raised rev limit at the moment (remap yes) but thats just me :drinking:

not too worried about the raised rev limit, more in need of the aggression settings, idle drop and torque curves

Long read but worth it.
