will an Ed30 leave a GTI for dead?
« on: April 09, 2011, 01:17:57 pm »
I was wondering if I had a race with an ed30 and they are either both standard or on the same stage of a map will the ed30 shoot off into the distance or can I keep up? Thanks

Standard the ed30 will prob have the legs past 50 due to the bigger turbo.

After stage 1 map the ed30 would (providing traction isnt a factor) pull away from the get go.

As said above very little in it to about 40-50 then the edition 30 is away and mapped then it'll walk away

As above, at the higher RPM, the ED30 has the power. The GTI turbo runs out of steam by that point.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

or alternatively i will say on an E30 stage 2+ that it will destroy any stage K03 car period but not off the lights as the smaller turbo car will always have the low down response that the K04 cars just dont have! IMO anyway......

Having had both a KO3 MK5 GTI and a KO4 Edition 30, I think it's a bit of a myth that the KO4 engine is slower off the mark than a KO3 engine.  I'm pretty sure my Ed30 is quicker off the mark than my GTI.  Apart from being noticeably quicker all round, the only other difference I have noticed is that the Ed30 is not so keen on 6th gear in town driving, whilst my GTI was okay.

The ED30 as said is faster higher up the rev range compared to the GTI....tried and tested!

Without traction power is nothing!

I think it's fair to say that John's car wasn't exactly running 100% with his laughing gas mod that day. (Still got spanked by TC though  :signLOL:)
In fact it never did run 100% when on the 1/4 mile when he was running the gas..
