Decided to get a new Golf GTI but in a different coat
« on: April 12, 2011, 03:44:25 pm »
Well the wife wanted a different car, bored of the Touran so seeing there was a decent offer on we ordered a brand spanker one of these ...

I have some sportlines ready to go next week - when I can get it booked it.

Had to be DSG so the Cupra was off the list - looking through the options we ended up getting everything but leather.  Really please, missed having the DSG and the wife loves it too.

Had a few choice dealer options too ;)

I did have a quick look at GTI's but getting the same spec would have cost me £10k more!  + the Adaptive Xenon's are great down the windy lanes.  Teh interior on the facelift has improved quite a bit - much better to look at.

I guess the rear wing and the Cupra R diffuser and ehaust are the dealer fit options?  Looks very nice especially with the rear end.

The FR has had the 'updated' front/rear bumpers since the facelift - so about a year.  recently with the release of the Cupra R you can no opt for the rear diffuser and exhaust as dealer options - any any of other exhaust options too, single centre, twin seperate (GTI style).

Not keen on the Aero/K1 complete kit but though it lacked somehting on the side so went for the skirts, the rear wing on the facelift is now more integrated (standard on the R) so thought why not while I was doing it and well I like the twin exhaust setup so went for that too.

The mk5 Ibiza Cupra looks good, I didnt realise they only do it in DSG (7 speed) - 180PS 1.4TSI engine with XDS too. Looks better than the Polo alternative.

The Cupra front bumper I think it slightly different, I know round the number plate its black rather than colour coded on the FR - not that you can tell this on a black car.

Oh I had the Black grill too

VCDS was out as soon as I got it home to enable staging - so it has the cool dial sweep on startup too

  The drive is on an incline which makes it look worse.  Will be 40mm lower shortly

Lovely FR neg. Complete bargain next to a GTI.
The Cupra R rear just finishes it off nicely, just a shame they don't do a little lip spoler or somthing to give the front a bit of depth.
