Very nice bits.

I have just put some ODI Troy Lee Grips on.
I may get one of these new rear Kashima FOx Shocks.
And start adding some other lighter bits and bobs starting with the wheels.

Love it and I live in the Chilterns so at every turn there is a different trail.

Unfortunately its taking a precedent over the car at the moment!

Cheers guys.

That new gold coating on fox suspension does look lovely:)

I'm pretty lucky in Shropshire with routes, Wrekin is 5 mins away, Cannock chase and the long mynd are 35 mins away. East ridge is 45 mins, Llandegla  an hr and then brenin, pen machno, Marin all under 2 hrs. Tried the ladyblower loop in the peaks this year, stunning route if any of you fancy masses of variation and stunning views.  Hard work though at over 50km.

I know what you mean about taking focus off the car, I've not spent a lot of time on it recently, always looking for new bits to feed my new found addiction to bike modding instead

Got a black XL Santa Cruz Heckler   Owned it about 4 years now but had to wait 3 months for the frame to be made and shipped over from America intially then it was built up as an all mountain bike with Fox, Mavic, Thompson, Shimano, Maxxis and Hope goodies  :innocent:

Kinda been neglected tho since i got my GTI 2 years ago, see if i can dig out some pics if people are interested

Guys need some help here. I have around 3k to spend on a xc/dh bike but im not up to date with things these days and the new suspension tech. Used to ride trials back in the day so i know how to throw a bike around just not 100% on the xc/freeride/dh bikes.

Been looking at an Orange alpine 160, trek remedy 9 and slash 7 but i really carnt make my mind up. It has to be able to climb aswell, im almost settled on the Orange but not so sure about the weight and the "old" tech.

Is there anything better suited? or is it a case of i wont go far wrong with either?

Cheers :happy2:

Orange get great ratings in the magazines but in the biking community they are subject to a mass of slating so make sure you have some thick skin if you invest in one.
My mate has a five AM and while nice and tough it feels a tank and is a bit of a dog on the flats and climbs with its single pivot rear suspension.  The obvious choice with the usual brands is the lapierre zesty or spicy, the trek remedy, giant reign, mojo ibis etc.

My money would be going for something German, they really are leading the way with spec, value and build quality.

I'd be looking at something like....

And for a bit less than £3k but still massive spec

Cheers mate :drinking:

Liking the look of the strive esx 9.0 and the Wicked 160 and you deffo get more for your monies looking at the components.

Tbh i kinda knew id get that response about the Orange, which is what was holding me back and they do look heavy.

Id say youve made my decision harder now though
