Sold my bike the other day really want to try a 650b or a 29er next but just not sure what size I would prefer just trying to find something cheap ish second hand as can't really justify 2k in a bike as would get another car for that money  :signLOL:

Bought myself one of these last year, never really been into mountain biking so just thought I'd buy something not to expensive and see if I got into it, which I have, absolutely love it. Living right on the edge of the lake District I'm obviously not short of places to go only thing is I think i might already be pushing the bike further than it's capable, might need a set of forks soon.

:) good stuff!!!

I have an RC4 and it is good cos it has high and low speed adjustments, whereas I don't think the van does??

It's mint to use if you're in between spring rates, I am in between 450 and 500lb spring so I can whack on a bit of compression and use a 450lb spring :happy2:

Yes the Van R is just rebound with a tuned compression for the gambler but my Large frame only came with a 350lb spring and I'm probs more 400-450lb just watching an rc4 on the bay it says offers so may be cheeky and see if he would take maybe £170? And see if I can get rid of mine for that price??

Hi, I'm looking at getting back into biking and spoilt for choice. A lot of nice bikes on here and I've done a lot of mountain biking in the past. Has anyone got or any experience with the GT Force X-Carbon Expert 27.5 2014? Or can recommend something on the same level that they find really good? I ideally want something with the ability for all pedalling uphill effort to be transferred to ground without wasting energy etc..  Any help appreciated.

i can not get over how fast these 29ers are uphill they fly,i know they are not as agile but for xc trails i don't think you can knock them.I was going to get a 650b bike but really glad so far with the 29er. I would try and see if someone local would let you have a ride or even try your local stores they might let you try em out first

650b would be my ultimate choice just cos it's the best of both extremes. I'm still not in with this big wheel 29ers I just cannot see that something with 3inch more diameter and longer spokes can be just has strong has the other 2.

Massive flex in the front and back in tight berms and techy descents cannot be much fun but I'm gonna reserve my comments cos I've not actually tried one so I might be completely wrong :happy2:

Matt do you go round the local trials at halifax? Been wanting to try some for ages but not had chance to get over, maybe you could be our guide :happy2:

My gambler has been changed to 650b for the 2015 model so I might change next year
