For me it's simply the space conundrum. If I didn't feel the need for something slightly larger then I'd certainly not sell it.

Funnily enough, this evening just by chance I parked up next to the same model of car I am planning on buying. Whilst walking away I turned to see both cars together, and no prizes for guessing which one stirred my emotions most!

Fuel cost is the main reason, and the rising price of insurance  :sad1:

I understand that but there is a lot more things I'd sacrifice before my car.

Everyone's circumstances are different. Some people obviously have more responsibilities and out-goings that others...

Try running an R32 as daily driver. Just had my tax reminder come through. Up to £445 this year. Is it going anywhere? Not yet!
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

The tax on the R32 is scary. If it was circa £300 I wouldntve hesitated buying one, but I just couldnt fork almost £500 on tax, then MOT, insurance etc on it each year

Well... a hot hatch at least. GTI running costs aren't that bad as it's still just a Golf at the end of the day. Even Porsche and high-end Audi running costs make VW look like good value for money, that's what makes them great.
