would you advise doing the service yourself ?

the 10k service is just oil and filters correct ?

I'm not sure how VW would view this should any warranty work be required ?

Good point Jonny, the way I understand it is unless the services are carried out to the manufactures schedule using genuine parts by either a VW Dealer or Independent (VAT Registered?) Garage then your warranty would be voided??

not true as as long as genuine parts are fitted it does not effect you warranty its called block exemption so you can do the service at home if you wanted

awesome cheers for that !!

Good point Shaun  :happy2: I come across the block exemption ruling at work all the time, but in practice it's not alway's convienient, point in case: A Seat dealer serviced a year old Ford for me, upon return told me it had to be re-booked into a Ford dealer for 'warranty work'!

It would certainly make people wary if a service book had all sorts of different dealer/manufacturer stamps in the service book.

Know exactly what you are saying, but the as an enthusiast the whole point of that stamp is too make sure the work was done properly and to the highest standard . Thus i keep receipts/records showing what was done, when and for what reason.

Its also the reason i prefer to use specialists / enthusiasts to do work rather than lazy unintrested dealers. money is not the issue !

BMw have some of the most shocking dealerships , out of 8 dealers i have tried for warrenty/service work i only trust two !!!

Murketts of huntingdon and Rydale BMW Birmingham now Sytner of brum !
