Rev "D" DV fitted!
« on: April 16, 2011, 11:18:55 pm »
Ok I fitted the new Rev "D" DV, my old diaphram one made the sneezing noise (fairly loud) when letting off the accelerator etc
Whereas now that I have the "D" fitted, It don't make a sneezing noise at all or if anything its too quiet to hear it even with windows down? have I fitted it properly or is that normal lol

Are you sure you didn't have a dump valve fitted originally?

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

it recirculates the air doesn't it? so no atmospheric discharge of air which means no noise

Yeah thats why I'm confused that the "B" DV made the sneezing noise?

Maybe a leak? If so, good job I changed it lol

My previous GTI made that noise especially when I lifted off the accelerator. It was kind of addictive but I think my dv was knackered too. I personally thought the power dropped off a bit higher in the rev range. Bought a Rev D but unfortunately never got the chance to put it on. Have you noticed whether your car is performing better since you changed it?

The early ones - as fitted to my 05 plate - do make a very subtle little sneeze when you lift off.  Its not loud or chavy but just right imo.  Others have noted that the newer revisions don't do this which is a shame but then again I guess they don't rip either so not all bad.

I'm about to replace mine soon as I've a nagging feeling I've lost some performance, more noticeable in the top end as said ...

I have noticed it picks up alot better with the "D" DV,

might just be all in my head but deffo feels quicker ie more boost.

I went from Rev C to Rev D and didn't notice any difference in performanve or noise.

Mine still makes a nice whoosh noise when you let off after a heavy acceleration without using the boost as it recircs it back into the intake
