Wanting More power?

Ok my skoda 2.0TFSI is currently on stage 1. I want to get more torque out of her but dont really want to go down the route of HPFP due to extra wear on Cam follower ect.

So my question to is could i get away of getting a 200 cell Cat Fitted welded in place of my OEM cat and standard exhaust with the precat knocked out(already done precat)

I may also go route of induction kit but to be honest i want the engine to be as close to standard looking as possibale for lots of reasons.

So Stage 2 in hope of some decent gains in torque by removing standard OEM cat and fitting a 200 Cell Cat, And maybe a decent free flowing panel filter with carbon intake things.

I know the carbon intake's scoop isnt recommend but i do believe vw would not have spent hours and hours on there car devoloping the oem air box to be as restrictive as people make out(mostly tuners). I do however  understand the reasoning behind the CAT.

Im not really sure there is much wear and tear on the cam follower.  iirc when the TFSI first came out there was a different style cam lobe/follower setup/system, which caused excessive wear on the cam follower. This was rectified i believe by VAG.  There were pictures on here which would help yuo identify it.   Many guys on here including myself have removed the cam follower after 20-30k and swapped it only to find no wear at all.

This is possible.  There is a thread by hurdy reference his decat in the reviews section.  He had his done at stadtlers.  I contacted them and asked them if they could do the same to an OEM DP and they said it was easily achievable for not very much at all.

Plenty of guys on here have fitted aftermarket intakes, and adapted the engine cover to fit over the intake so it still looks mostly stock.  Plenty of threads on here for that

I had the carbonio and panel filter at stage 1 and it was about as much use as a chocolate brake discs.  Biggest waste of money i spent on the car.  Just lucky someone bought it off me so i didnt lose out to much.

You couldnt be more wrong.  There are many threads on here with before and after dyno runs with performance intakes making 10-20hp+ more power over the stock airbox.  Proof of its inefficiency is that in the newer TSI engine the standard intake is very similar to the Induction kits on the TFSI

Ok so a induction kit is really a must to get any more gains. Will budget around a £150 for this maybe a nuespeed pflow or if im very lucky a evoms. Question regarding video you mentioned 200cell cat on the thread? Did he have 200cell cat before and then decide to get a decat? As originally i was wanting a 200 cell cat and didnt want to go down route of decat due to the fact of playing around come mot time with switching exhaust?

i presume you mean hurdy?  He had a 200cell miltek iirc, then got it flanged so he could swap the 200cell cat for a decat section.

Reference the intake you could add that anytime and the ECU will adjust itself to compensate for additional airflow.  Top intakes are generally thought to be the EVOMs, ITG maxogen and Twintake.  Although plenty have the BSH, DBILIAS etc which all perform as well

So the pictures are of the miltek 200 cell cat? And not the standard OEM exhaust system?? sorry mate bit confused as the pics with cat looks like OEM.

that is a 3" miltek downpipe that is being cut up. With age and the heating/cooling cycles etc they start to look like that.  But you can see the diameter is much larger than stock, and the thread title and picture titles all say miltek

Ah just was looking at the pic again. Was having a dumb moment! So what size is the standard pipe? I may do what hurdy did but do it with standard exhaust and just switch decat for cat at mot time.

OEM is 2.5".

As said i asked stadtlers if they could do it with OEM and they said yes

And i guess with this done i could go up to stage 2? My current HPFP is meeting all demands in mid range at WOT. So i think it should be ok. My main interest is torque and beter holding power say 250bhp for alot longer.

you'll be fine with the HPFP at stage 2 unless the map is to aggressive, and yes the decat will allow you to go stage 2.  Whos your tuner? stage 2 cars with stock intake will normally  make 250Hp anyway.  Id say with a decat you might make a few more hp
