Converting Milltek system
« on: April 20, 2011, 10:53:30 am »
I've already got a full TBE from Milltek fitted.  Does anybody know if it's possible to just remove the original GTi valance and Milltek back box and  replace it with an R32 rear valance and Milltek back box???

Hi

If you get any joy let me know I too have the same set up and would like to fit the R32 rear valance.

The valance is fixed on a GTI so the answer is no. On a R32 it is removable.  :happy2:

I was actually talking about replacing the bumper and valance.  My question was whether the TBE was the same and you could just swap the Milltek GTi back box for the R32 one?

^^^^
Once you've got the OEM R32 rear bumper (VW call it a "rear spoiler") you'll see that it has several cut-outs which then allow you to buy an appropriate "exhaust trim" (correct VW name) to suit whichever exhaust configuration you want to fit or have fitted.

To illustrate what I'm saying, the 'exhaust trim' on mine is the carbon piece. I'm running a custom Milltek system throughout:

^ I have a much smaller centre box (louder) since this pic was taken.

RedRobin, I’ve been an admirer of your car for a while now I too have purchased the V4 OSIR front lip from the USA which will be colour coded along with the side skirts and rear in a couple of weeks time (still deciding on either the R32 or ED30 rear bumper). I have brushed aluminium mirrors which I did myself which look great against the red.  I will post some pictures when complete.

Did you have a problem lining up the OSIR front lip being as its in two parts?

....   - I'm laughing because they are temporary. The Valeo inner units are waiting for a LED conversion. But it's cool to learn that someone likes them.  :happy2:

....Not a problem - Just needed a bit of wiggling about.

....I think your choices are the OEM R32 centre pipes trim, a third party (dunno who but probably German) aftermarket twin pipe trim, an OSIR carbon trim (3 versions and all expensive).
