Black front grill badge
« on: April 20, 2011, 11:55:21 am »
After seeing another members black front grille badge I think I want to go down this route.

So where is the best place to get one?

So far I have concluded:-

Ebay - about £18
Dubstopimports - just over £20 shipped from US
Eurowagens - £12.50 but not in stock
Paint my own - £? but less than above
Vinyled - £? not sure about the finish but would have good stone chip protection.

Not to worried about the cost within reason, but I'd like the finished article to be good quality and have a certain resistance to stone chips. I don't want it looking peppered in a few weeks.

So what's out there and what are your opinions?

The acid etch primer helps, 2 coats of that then 2 coats of satin... no chips yet :)

Got 2 badges for mine, One satin black and one carbon 3M wrapped,
The wrapped one holds up much better than the painted on.

I bought one from dubstopimports about two years ago. Still no marks on it!

I honestly can't remember how many miles I've done with the badge on but it's either 6000 or 16000. When I figure it out, I'll let you know!

I've got one for sale mate, I bought it off ebay, black plastic, satin finish, fits mk5 gti. Fitted it but preferred the chrome one so swapped it back! Yours for £10 posted. I'll send you a photo(s) if you wish!!
