Thank god for the search function, was just about to get onto VW for a warranty claim! haha

Just expected my Edition 30 to have it after my R32 had it, but that did have winter pack and xenons, my Ed is a lightweight version lol

I think its a fair point, can you live without it? - Yes of course you can but I was also disappointed coming from my mk4 GTI which had it as standard to the 'better' mk5 that VW had been cheap enough to remove a system that probably costs less than £10 to install.

Yet another example of VW's tight fistedness, along with the door reflectors instead of lights like on the mk4!  :innocent:

And the cords for the parcel shelf that retracted into a spring loaded doofer so your balls don't thump on the rear hatch ...

Mk4 was much better built than the mk5 no doubt about it.  Unfortunately it didn't handle so good and the GTI's were seriously underpowered.   Can't have it all I suppose.

This is beginning to sound like a carry on film

I know this is an old thread but can anyone show me which slot to use in the connector behind the cluster?

Also, is it really necessary to remove steering wheel or is this just for easier access?

Thanks!

Dont qoute me on this but i dont think you have to remove the steering wheel. You can remove the cluster with it in situ. Its just a bit fiddly trying to get it back in getting it out is easy. The connector should be numbered . If im wrong im sure someone will be along to correct me  :signLOL:.

I pulled the cluster out (surprised how easy it was tbh) for a look, it's not numbered!

Haha...... some people just cannot help themselves
If you check your level weekly/ fortnightly there's no need for yet another warning light
Is it really that important, really !! Haha

I'm for the warning lights that's why I want a modern car.

My mates 3 series has no dip stick and relies on a warning for oil,  so bring on all this modern tech rather than living in the 60's
Loads of extra's and retro fits.
