If you have a MFSW, you normally have highline to go with it.

But yes, in order to access 'Audio' you need highline

Thought so.

I retro fitted MFSW as I got them dirt cheap but volume up and down, flick through midline data and mute which has stopped working is about it.

In hindsight I wouldn't bother but its nice to not have to move my arm 2 inches to the volume knob

Its nice to be able to do it all from the steering wheel. In my case, I can steer, change gear, change track and volume all at the same time

I would like to see you do all that at once.   

I also think the buttons make the wheel and interior look better especially when lit up, and the volume without removing hand from wheel is a neccessity when all your MP3's have different volumes!

All UK spec cars that had MFSW from new would also have the highline dash
Imports wouldn't

To change tracks without highline change the buttons to the older style or change the steering wheel to a Mk6 version

Mine's a DSG, out of curiosity I might call the last dealer up to see if they can shine any light on it..pm me the highline details - while I'm compiling my "buy" list I may as well add it!

If your car is DSG then it would have just had the paddles, so someone has retrofitted the newer buttons. Change to the old style to change tracks

So pardon my knowledge gap!
I could retro fit old buttons onto my existing steering wheel and make it work? Would I need to change any wiring or would it just be a case of getting the buttons re allocated on vagcom etc..

If the buttons you have now work, then you can just change them and that will be it

Definitely smells if a retro fit!

The older buttons don't control the trip computer, hence why you need the stalk with rocker at the end

Very odd that those buttons in yours are the newer style  if they were original I think the new type were from 2007. 

The second part of that statement is from the guy with the 2005 GTI where the MFD2 comes from he cant use skip anymore.....

You could get a highline dash and have that installed............ I have one on the way from the states for a fraction of the money they go for in the UK

Also incase people wonder the other way old style buttons wont skip track on an RNS510 even when in audio menu in highline you need to use the wiper stalk control for that.

Was a fix ever developed for this? Last I checked VWNavi there was a rumour about a SEAT owner who'd figured it out but nothing concrete...
