Nope, was an option available from factory (or dealer as an aftermarket)

Look on the bumper. If you don't see the sensors, they're not fitted.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

^^ Those are dealer fit. The OE fit ones are recessed into the bumper and are flush  :happy2:

2 of mine are corroded, I'll post a pic here later, occasional false reading, anyone got an idea on replacement costs etc?

I was £70 for a sensor, then paint of course. Easily replaced but you will have to virtually remove the back bumper if its the two nearest the number plate. They just clip into the bumper and plug in.  :happy2:

Thanks gaz. Yes it is.

I'll stack it up for service time I think.

They still work (cos I've flakes the paint off them) but when you paint them after a couple of weeks you get false indications. Time for a swap out I think.

It'd be better to go for a camera!

Think Gti_Mad has one for sale too!

One of mine is faulty and caused the car to beep constantly so rather than pay 70 for a new sensor I just turned the volume down to 0 on vag com who actually uses them anyway

Ive just fitted some to my GTI , got them on ebay for £40 painted. Took about an hour and a half and they work well.

The only pain was finding the reverse light supply
