V7.1 maps & P.O.Is

Hi,

I really want full post code search on my RNS510 (rev B). So I updated the firmware to 2760, as per vrsCarl's instructions (thanks Carl  ) no problem and then tried out v7.1 (7388) maps. I can indeed do a full post code search but now I have no POIs

Anyone know why and what I need to do to get POIs working? Do I need to go to firmware 3810 or is that only for rev C units?

Or can I copy the POIs from my previous map disk (V6 I guess)? That would be preferable for me as I got the disk from Darren and I think it has lots of extra POIs that I'd really like to keep!

There's a lot of very confusing and conflicting information out there & I just can't quite find the right answer!

You mightve corrupted the POI database and/or depending on which version of the 7388 maps you are using (there is one for 3xxx and a modified one for 2xxx) it may have a different database thats not compatible with your 2xxx firmware

Worth trying the format disc to wipe the Map partition of the HDD and reload the maps

I guess i must have the version for FW 3xxx then. There are definitely POIs on the disk and I can even load them into PoiInspector (not that I have any idea have to actually us that program!) but the rns can't see them. I'm only using the map in temporary mode (i.e from the DVD not the HDD) that shouldn't make a difference should it?

So do I go to FW 3xxx, if that's even possible with my unit? or do I get the modified version for 2xxx or can I somehow modify the version myself to include the POIs from my previous disk, which presumably are in the correct format for FW 2xxx

Put the disc in your PC and look if there is an EDB folder in there

If there is, that would be why you cant see the POIs as the old firmware loads from a TPD folder. Itll be present but it needs the EDB folder removing to get it to work generally speaking
