Could be that like me you don't have the motion sensor alarm. If this is the case then set the alarm, open the door with the manual key then don't turn the ignition on. The light on the door should stay red and after 15 seconds the alarm will sound.

No, I know I have a motion sensor since I've set it off before. It also gets triggered by heavy lorries travelling very close by.

The GTI isn't just a machine. It's very much a living, breathing thing.

Strangely, I just went outside to park the car and my hazards were flashing too. Normally, the horn's beeping along with it. I suspect it was the chav in the evo giving the new zorst a good work out!

Tried to wave my arms around the interior but no alarm or hazards. Anyone know where the motion/ultrasound sensors are?

On the 5dr it;s passenger side - on the pillar in between front and back....i think.

mines similar... went away on holiday and came back to a flat battery... changed the battery and since then the alarm has no sound... the red LED stays lit for about 15seconds too before flashing?

Exactly the same - disconnected the battery and now the alarm not working....must a reset somewhere or something.

Just checked mine, not happy.

Unlocked manually from key, opened door, waited 15-20 seconds, door car light went solid and indicators flashed - No horn sound.

Locked it all back up but with window down, waved arm around, light went solid again no sound or indicators?

Any ideas guys? Pretty gutted actually, where would the sensors be? Surely a GTi comes with sensored alarm as standard?

I checked all my fuses and each was ok...

I've had a word with a mate and he seems to think its the actually alram horn which is under the drivers side wing which could be at fault..

not checked it out yet

not entirly sure off the top of my head... its been a few weeks since I checked... it was in the manual though... VW wanted a kidney size cheque also to fit it....

So I'll be looking to a friend who sponsors www.staffs-vw.co.uk to fit it :happy2:

Just looked through section 3.2 only found "Horn" which is obviously fine as my actual horn works, can't find anything relating to alarm?

Got to work this morning, locked the car and "Beep".

Unlocked and "beep, beep"

All working and alarm no works properly also.

Very weird, thank god I was too lazy to get a replacement siren.
