Tyre choices for me?

I pick up my Ed30 next Tuesday.

It currently has two Sport Contact 2's on the back and two BS RE050's on the front.  Both sets are in good nick, but I'd rather having the same tyres all round.

So, do I buy 4x new tyres (I swore by Pilot Sport 3's on my Megane R26) or get a pair of 050's to match the set on the front?

Any other options?

I had the RE050's on my standard golf when i bought it, i would rather drive it on rims only sh***y tyre IMO. I would recommend going for the new Michelin Pilot Super sport as i have chosen these myself in 19" over the competition, as i find the golf struggling for grip above 300BHP.



If you are running 18" and want grip then the Toyo R1R are unmatched as a load legal tyre that actually works in the rain too.

Cheers, but aren't they a trackday tyre rather than an everyday tyre?

They (The R1R) was used by my wife last year as an everyday tyre and it's been the tyre we've tried with the most grip even in the wet. There's still loads of tyre left in the rear ones and also about 6000km left in the front tyres. Along with everyday use they have also done 9 laps at the ring along with 200km/h to and from the ring and 8 laps on the Jutlandring. I can only highly recommend them for outright grip and driveability

Tyres seem very expensive at the moment. Luckily I don't need any, however I was looking on My Tyres for a friend and the Vredestein Ultrac Sessantas, normally a sub-£100 tyre, are £140, and PS3s are £170.
