RCD300 to Alpine iXA-W407BT
« on: April 27, 2011, 10:17:53 am »
Have been planning to swap my standard RCD 300 6cd headunit with something a little more versatile with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity and better looks.
I did consider the OEM route of RNS510 but it was proving to be prohibitively expensive especially as I wanted some hands free bluetooth action, no battery drain and ipod.
Ive always been a fan of Alpine gear and decided to head in that direction.

So I went from this

Bought this

And now it looks like this

First opinion is that the sound quality is much improved with the standard speakers.
Im loving the iPod connectivity and the built in Parrot works a treat.  Am going to connect the associated Nav unit when funds allow and might try and sneak an amp and sub in when the wife isnt looking.  Happy days

Did you fit it yourself? Did you have to buy any additional harnesses etc or was it a straight replacement for the 300?

Wouldve needed a Quadlock to ISO harness id have thought. Most likely one which can generate the CAN signals for speed, reverse, and illumination

Unfortunately I didnt fit it - was a present and Halfrauds were the idiots who were given the job.
It isnt working exactly correctly at the moment as it has to be manually turned on and off!
But they are looking for a solution - another lead I imagine.
Cracking bit of kit though and looks MINT!  :jumping:

Ah thats the lead I was referring to

Theyll need a quadlock to canbus adapter that generates ignition, speed, reverse and illumination
