Fitting rcd510 and mdi
« on: April 28, 2011, 04:09:09 pm »
I've done a fair bit of search and just wanted to clarify a few bits.

I currently have  rcd300 and the central arm rest with the large cubby hole in it.

Been to vw today and ordered the cd changer/mdi armrest console and air duct.

Going to purchase the kufatec retrofit cable to connect the mdi to a rcd 510.

Can someone confirm this is the right way to do it?

Also by doing this,       I will be able to control my iPod through the touch screen on the rcd 510 and see playlist etc?

The iPod will charge when plugged in using the kufatec cable.

My can bus gateway should be ok? As its a november 2007 golf?

I will have to get the car coded for the mdi to work?

Sorry if it's obvious Id just like this confirming so I know I'm going in the right direction.

My can bus gateway should be ok? As its a november 2007 golf? - yes it should be as youll probably be on an L gateway or higher

Thanks for the quick reply Alex.

Just a couple more if anyone can answer,

will any version of the rcd510 work ok? I will be trying to get the latest.

Also just looking at the list of people with vds locally Alex you come up as closest. I'm in Poole would you be able to code it for me when the time comes? Id make there's some beer tokens.

The new armrest cover comes with a hole for an aux in - they dont stock the non-aux in version anymore

Thats the blank to fill the hole

Trade prices were

26ish for the armrest cover
10 for the pipe
39p for the blank
2.10 for the rubber mat
