What to buy after GTI?
« on: May 01, 2011, 08:38:25 pm »
Hi all!

I sold mine GTI DSG 2 days ago couse he was more at workshop as on the street thesedays... Now am struddling what to buy. I still like GTI a lot! Performance, driving, practicality...

My thoughts are S3, GTI mk6, Focus RS, BMW 1 coupe or some A3 170HP diesel...

What did u bought or u thinking to after GTI?

cheers

Not much would come close to a GTI for all round ability. But here's my tuppenceworth.
Personally,I wouldn't have a Focus RS.A mate of mine had one in that snot green colour and he loved it until I gave him a shot in my Edition30.He thought that it was far more refined and a far better car to drive than the Reesty.
An S3 would be heavier than the Golf due to it's Quattro system, but it's got the extra power to compensate,so I reckon that it'll be as quick as a mapped ED30.
For refinement and handling, then the BMW is the car to have...except in the winter, unless fishtailing is your bag!

It might be worth having a look at the fast Renaults, they seem to be more track orientated but I'll bet they would make you grin like a sailor in a whorehouse.

I don't understand why people think BMWs are poor in winter (snow). If you put the correct tyres on it's just as good as any other car.

The fact that rear wheel drive cars are generally worse in the snow has something to do with it!  :jumping:

Some sales bloke told me (so it must be true  :chicken:) that many bmw's in Germany get fitted with a 4x4 option.....

I've no idea if this is true or not, but you'd think if it was true then they'd be available here too.

Anyone got the right info?

I have 320D at home as well... These winter with new tyres there werent any problems at all to drive arr in snow... Yes it's not like GTI but u can drive. There 4x4 is one of the best at the moment even bether than Audi's as I read and heard. Didnt had chance to compare...

Megan RS looking nice choise and is cheaper than GTI for few K as well. Cupra as well... just interior from both these cars are ugly for me...

Am more and more arround A3 170hp diesel... Little less HP but much less fuell consuptions. Just price for new one is crazy if u add some extras. Insurance cost as well here is 30% cheaper or more for these one...

Cheers
