we dont know when this op was carried out, could well have been a couple days ago and they have just released him  which would allow time for DNA tests.  Wouldnt hold your breath or dental records though, he didnt look like a regular customer at his local dentist,   .

His body was offered to his home country Saudi, but they didnt want him, so they dumped him at sea, no doubt to stop the extremists getting hold of his body, or maybe because this is a fake.........

It would be a ballsy fake to try and pull off especially as AQ could refute it pretty damn quickly. I know the Americans are not exactly the most truthful people on earth. But the amount of embarrassment this would cause if proved a fake would pretty much ruin the country politically for quite a number of years.

DNA testing can be done very quickly

No, it's not - but burial within 24 hours is, which is what I believe the newspeople refer to when they say "he was buried at sea within 24 hours in accordance with islamic tradition". But the burial at sea is to prevent a grave from becoming a shrine. Smart move I think.

The way they've handled this says a lot about Obama, actually. I imagine a Republican president would have put up pictures/video of the corpse, or brought it back to the US. Obama by not doing that kept his dignity (and the US moral high ground) (while at the same time probably ensuring his reelection). I imagine of course they've taken all the necessary dental records (and I've heard they've done DNA tests) to ensure beyond any doubt that it was indeed OBL.

...also, must've been some hard-corps pilots (probably 16th SOAR? any military types want to chime in with speculation?) who undertook a mission to fly under radar, at night, through mountainous terrain there and back...

I'm glad they didn't capture him and he ended up dead.

Imagine all the kidnappings and blackmail to try and get him released if he had been captured!

Apparently they used DNA from his deceased sister to confirm.

A white house staffer is reported as saying there is "99.9% confidence" that it was him.
