The time has come to get my wheels refurbed. Not sure whether to refurb them as original, dark grey or satin black. What do you think looks best?

Just picked mine up and the wheels are going to get a refurb soon, I think i'm just opting for the whole wheel the same colour as the insert is now.

I had my monza II's refurbed to standard (diamond cut), they were in a right state when I bought the car and 450 quid later looked absolutely amazing.....however.....
Only 18 months later and the dreaded white worm was showing it's ugly face again.  :surprised:

I wouldn't diamond cut again, full covering of paint next time!! Die white worm, die.

Still gotta love monza II's though...... :happy2:

Ok folks,

I mentioned earlier in this thread that I did a DIY job on my Detroits/Monza 2's. Very easy to do, but takes time and elbow grease. All you need is sandpaper, and a metal polish. I coated 1 wheel with lacquer just to see how it goes, but the other 3 are bare..which I think is better- if any white worm appears I can simply give it a rub with some metal polish and its gone... here is a before and after pic:

deffoe go with satin black, they look awesome. A mate of mine has them on his black ed30. I'm just in the process of fully refurbing some bbs Audi splits at the moment which I bought off of some one on here. Got my fingers well and truly burnt as they were scruffy when I collected them, full of White worm, oh well you live and learn. Going for a polished lip bare metal then maybe an anthracite middle. Will post some pics when they are finished.

FWIW Lepsons in Swindon are quoting 280 + vat for monza II's black inserts with diamond cut finish (today's price for four with tyres) versus £95 (each with tyres) all in for A1 wheels, torn between the two, A1's or Lepsons, any input anyone ???? Thinking for £50 beer tokens difference Lepsons have it, but Nigel at A1 sounded a great guy....

Has anyone used Diamond Shine Vehicle Services in Cardiff for wheel refurb?
They do wheel refurb for £45 which i thought was good, most places charge about £75

Their site is now dead though : http://www.dsvs.co.uk/

I've just dug the receipt out.....

It was a company in Bridgend, South Wales as I was working there at the time. 'Renowheel Ltd'. I got the price wrong too, it was £373.75 which was 4 wheels anthracite and diamond cut, then laquered, plus one of the wheels needed a buckle removed.

I'll be honest the finish was/is absolutely amazing, genuinely second to none. Further to that the owner did tell me there was a strong chance the white worm would come back...but I decided to go for it anyway as they look gorgeous when in good condition. It isn't horrendous now but I know it's there, no doubt you know what I mean.

I've got phone numbers etc if anyone wants to check them out (if they're still there - I had them done in June 09).

What grade flatting paper did you use? Did you use a machine polisher to rebuff the wheel? Thanks
