Well as most of you know, the Ed30 has now gone after 3 great years of ownership
She will be sadly missed and I had some great times in the old girl..
But life goes on and last Wednesday I finally picked up the now motor from the dealership in Newcastle
For those who don't know what I was getting, it's a 2011 BMW 135i, with DCT (DSG), Xenons, Phone prep, upgarded Stereo, USB interface.. I also had the BMW Performance CF Spoiler and BMW Performance Black kidney grills added ready for delivery.
The car on it's arrival looked like this..
I had the car booked in the next day at The Wheel Specialist in Nottingham to get the rims powder coated gloss black and was more than pleased with the results..
So this is how she is looking now..
Already racked up 500 miles on the clock and have to say I am loving the car tbh. Couldn't be anymore different from the likes of the Golf, but then i'm comparing a modded car v's a standard one, RWD vs FWD, 2.0 blown 4 pot vs 3.0 blown 6 pot etc etc. The drive is much more driver involved and for a big old hector, she's pretty nimble on her feet to be fair.
Performance is very good, even in standard form and again totally different from the Golf. You could be forgiven for thinking it was a NA car for the way it delivers it's power, very linear and no big lump of boost/torque low down, just effortless power from tick over revs.
The DCT is obviously similar to the DSG in regards it's a dual clutch box. But I don't think it's quite as quick/smooth as the DSG was, but the DSG had Revo Stage 2 software, so again not a fair comparison. What it does have though (when sport mode is on) is a nice big lump of torque after each change which shoves you in the back when the next gear engages, quite addictive I have to say..
Oh and the brakes
6 pots as standard and a completely different ball game compared to the Ed30's milk bottle tops..
More pics and updates will come in due course, but all in all I am a very happy chappy at the min and will hopefully have many miles of happy motoring over the next few years (and the occasional trip to Pod of course
)..
