2.0T Engine variants
« on: March 09, 2009, 05:59:54 pm »
Forgive me for missing this, but are there differences between the 2.0T in the GTi and the 2.0T is the Scirocco? I vaguely remember something about different nomenclature for VAG 2.0T's (TFSI and TSI) but wasn't sure what the physical differences were, if any.

Also, what's in the A3/A4 2.0T - is it the 200PS GTi engine?

Ta.
Only 250.1bhp - but with that noise, who cares?

As far as im aware correct me if im wrong;
All the VAG 2TFSI (including the scirocco TSI 2ltr version) are the same give or take small spec changes e.g. Gti has a KO3 turbo but the ed30 has the KO4
Also there was some sort of update of the 2TFSI around the '56 plate but im not sure what this entailed

hope this partly answered your Q

The Rocco has the new TSi engine which I think is around 207PS.

Yes Stu,, the Rocco uses a new engine.

All alloy and chain driven and not an FSi unit (that has now been dropped).

Chain driven...? Does that mean the MK5 GTi has a timing belt instead?

Erm, how mistakes can one sentence have? :stupid: :fighting:

Firstly, there are NO four-pot VAG engines which have an alloy block (apart from the miser 1.0 litre jobby) - they all use grey cast iron.

Secondly, FSI has NOT been dropped in the new engine - in fact, ALL VAG petrol engines will eventually go to FSI.

Don't think so.  Even the brand new 5-pot TTRS motor is an iron block.  What is the engine code for the Lupo GTI then - I'll have another shufty, just to make sure I ain't talkin out my tail.  :wink:

AJV comes up as a Polo engine!

The closest I'm coming up with is AVY - 92kW which is 125PS - is that the one?  Anyway, that is still a cast iron block.  Just the heads are aluminium alloy. :wink:
