DAB unit retrofit on a RCD510?
« on: May 03, 2011, 03:48:34 pm »
If its been asked before I can't find it.

Can the DAB unit be retro fitted to a RCD510?

I read on another site it is £150 from VW but didn't know about retrofit?

I am guessing it may be an internal module?

Yes its an internal module so couldn't be retro'd but you can get Rcd510 with DAB just a matter of looking on eBay.

Thanks Darren, I am not that bothered I just picked up a RCD510 and was seeing what my options are.

Would have been nice to listen to Absolute 80's(yes I am old!) but could always stream it!

I've read that DAB in cars is a bit hit and miss, due the pish poor transmission quality we're lumbered with in the UK. In no way are they anyway near ready to switch off the AM and FM signals yet, as the digital coverage is so patchy.

As for the eighties music, I just play my own off the SD card. I have one folder that has hundreds of 80s 12" mixes in it and it plays for days and days on shuffle!
