Bluefin Stage 2
« on: May 04, 2011, 10:33:50 am »
what are the peoples thoughts who are running this map?

ive had it for a few weeks now, and im unsure, it sometimes feels like the car can not be bothered.

What psi do your cars boost to? Mine peaks at around 15/17psi

just wanted to see what other peoples thoughts were on the map

my thoughts on it are that its not very good at stage 2 or 2+.  I changed tuner in the end.  shame to have to spend out another #400-500, but it was worth it with the end result

remember to look at the graph as a whole, not just the peak figures.

oh i will be doing not that bothered about peak figure more how it comes across on the graph etc

just at times it can feel sluggish and almost like the car can't be bothered and you've to give it a good kick up the arse, then other times its fine and goes well

don't really know what power figures to expect tbh

the power delivery on mine was diabolical, very erratic what rollers you on?  mine made 287hp on AMDs, then went on JMS and only made 252hp, which would make sense as even though it was stage 2+ it couldnt keep up with the shark performance stage 2 or REVO stage 2 which all had less mods and the lower map, hence why i swapped

well car ran ****e lol

woke up to set off to awesome and exhaust light was on

got to awesome plugged bluefin for fault code, the car then had a paddy, immobilised itself, wouldnt start or turn over or anything

got the standard map uploaded and started, then got the stage 2 map on and took it out for half hour, was boosting as standard and boosting different in every gear, 1st and 2nd was struggling to boost at all, 3 was maxing out at 10psi, 4th 12 psi and 5th and 6th maxing out at about 16psi

had it out for a few miles with it obviosuly still been in learning mode but nothing was changing.

Decided to stick it on the rollers anyway but wasnt expecting good figures or anything near what i should have been getting, this was proved right when it went on

best run was 233.7 bhp and 333.48 ft/lb torque

was expecting between 250/260 but i knew it wasnt running right

spoke to awesome and they suggested it could be the pvc system as they are a known weak spot on these engines

so got back to r lasses engine cover off quick check to see if i cud see anything, nothing much tbh

few bits of debree in end tunnel so cleaned that out

so now i need to contact bluefine to double check the map, will send them the print out etc and ask why the boost is so unpredicatble

so the continues to give me grief lol

drives fine, smooth etc and no problems, just not producing the power it should be

looks like the Orange O ring has been leaking gases, in the 1st photo, also looks like oil staining on the cylinder head... or its a dark shadow?

New PCV kit i would suggest. O ring gasket is a seperate part im sure.

In-expensive to replace, would suggest if you havent changed it before, to replace it as its off.

nah it hasnt been changed before, i will order that from vw today and try and sort out an after market pcv fix for the car too if i can

awesome suggested the euro jet one,

also thats just a shadow but i can see how you thought it was leaking.

hopefully the update should help it run better and boost better cheers

My stage 2 Bluefin is fine for my Ed30, although does have a flat spot at 4500 rpm, but thats not the maps fault. It really needs a HPFP to help.

Cant complain. For the money imo its good value.

Have you checked your DV lately liver?

yeah checked and changed to the latest revison from vw so shouldnt have any problems from that

what sort of psi do you boost to or do you not know?

the way it boosts differently in every gear and only peaks at 15/16 psi only in 5th and 6th suggests something isnt right

yeah i went with bluefin as it was a steal of a price only cost me £175 for stage one then just £50 for stage 2

just been out for work and these are the figures its boosting at currently

1st = -1HG upto 1psi
2nd = 5psi
3rd = 8-10psi
4th = 10-12psi
5th = 15psi
6th = 15-16psi

costing me a fortune in fuel lol
