DSG advice

Hi folks, I'm after a bit of advice...

Is it normal for the gearbox to have a tiny shudder when you initially lift off of the brake from standstill?
It's fine when it gets going, just from stationary starts.

Is it something to worry about or should the DSG service due in 2k (40k)  and I guess ecu update smooth this out?

Hard to say exactly - how old is the car (is it still in VW 3 year warranty period). I would suggest going down tthe normal service regime route and get the DSG oil/filter changed - tcu adaptations from this may cure the problem. If it persists it could be related to the mechatronics unit. HTH.

It's a 56 reg, so just out although I have just bought it from a VW dealer so has the 12 month warranty. The service is nearly due so will prob do as you suggest. Cheers buddy

I sometimes get a clunk if I move into D while lifting the brake and get onto the throttle too quickly!  If I move into D while still having the brake depressed then move from brake to throttle it never misses a beat.  oil change also made a big improvement to the shift on mine so definately the first point of call and a requirement if you ever want VW to show good will once warranty is gone.

My DSG is working great, but like Rich if you are to fast going from Brake to the gas then you can get quite a loud clunk. It is not a judder though.  :chicken:

Hopefully nothing much, or something the DSG service should cure.

Some of the long term DSG users/advocates should be along soon to offer advice.
