Steering rack/suspension creaking
« on: May 05, 2011, 09:07:47 am »
Hi guys, over the past few weeks I've noticed a creaking/rumbling noise coming from the front of my car. It has all the hallmarks of the steering rack issue that plagued early 2006 Golfs, only occurring only at very low speed, and in particular (but not exclusively) when on full left lock. The steering feel etc seems unaffected.

Fron reading up on this it appears that commonly the noise presented itself within the first year, so my question is, would this problem happen on a car that has already covered 42,000 miles, and if that is unlikely what else could it be?

Thanks for all your help :notworthy:

I would get the top suspension mounts checked before going for the rack
