That is sweet! Apart from the view from the rear, those wide arches make it look a bit odd. Good to see some new teams in the wrc though with mini and now this.

Where they supposed to fit the mudflaps?!

Wonder if there will be a Polo R road car? Read an article once about a possible forthcoming Audi S1 where the designer mentioned that the 2.0TSI fitted under the bonnet of the A1.

A 2.0T Polo with 2+2WD would be rather swish!

Like that beastie a lot.

Sad question, what wheels is it sat on OZ SuperTurismo WRC or Speedline Turinis or something else?

Really like them on a white rally spec car..

WRC rules is that you need to enter a production car so that means a 4wd polo will be on the cards why do you think Mini launched the ridiculously ugly 4wd mini it isnt to win a beauty contest thats for sure!

Road car doesn't have to be 4WD, just the right dimensions. That's why MINI have made a MAXI. Remember a few years back Peugeot made a 206 called a GT that was just a GTI with bigger bumpers? That was just so the 206 was big enough to enter the WRC. They never had to make a 4WD version, though. The full homologation days of the Integrale and Escort Cosworth are long gone.

Well thats rubbish, one of the best things about the WRC was always the cars that it forced manufacturers to make  :sad1:  I know there are rumours of an A1 Quattro (sorry quattro) so Polo R could well happen.

Think about it, no 4WD Focus, no 4WD Citroens, no 4WD Fabia. Subaru and Mitsubishi were the only ones making proper rally reps.

I hadnt really thought about it in much detail, I just assumed that mini had because its a fairly pointless car I went past one the other day and felt small in my golf it was a copper S 4x4 ugly looking too!

As rally cars go, that looks smart.

As for the Polo R, not much news from VW but on cupranet back along whilst some of the Ibiza mk5 owners were discussing the future of the 1.4 twincharged engine there were a few posts by from a guy (not UK based) who claimed to work for VW and he dropped a few hints about the Polo R.
Now, as we all know he could be anybody as the internet is very anonymous, he could be a 15 year old car nut pretending for all we know, or he could just be a guy who'd read some stuff on European forums and, as he spoke English, just put the info on cupranet that he'd read. Or he could actually be genuine. We'll know by the Autumn I guess.

Anyway, this guy said the Polo R would be 4WD and have the 1.4 twincharged engine in a higher output than the current crop of Cupra/GTI/vRS so guessing 210 ish BHP.

I've just been searching through SCN and can't find the thread right now.
