2.0 TFSI ECU Update?
« on: May 07, 2011, 10:58:32 am »
As above my car is due a service & oil change at Audi, they said it will also get an ECU update while the car is in for the engine control module. I asked them what if I dont want it they said I have to sign an disclaimer form which I am then guessing would void my warrenty on my engine?

Has anyone else had this update? Does anyone know what this update is actually for? (Will it lock my ECU from mapping as some of the new Audi/VW cars have?) I am also guessing this will totally wipe my Revo software off my car?

I needed to go back to my Revo dealer anyway to get the new missfire map update on the car anyway but just wanted to know if any of you guys have had the update by Audi?

I think it will be to absolve them of any responsibility for overwriting your REVO.

What will the disclaimer? they said I only need to sign that if I choose not to have the update done. I would have thought loads of people on here would have had the update?

Not having the update in my mind tells the dealer that you have a remap so they may look more carefullly should you want warranty work in the future.

Just let them do what they want and sign nothing.

Nearly all Revo dealers will reflash your ECU for a nominal charge so it doesn't really matter.

I know thats what I was thinking as I need the new map that revo have for the miss fire around 3.8k anyway. But I was thinking what is the ecu update for?? & also I was thinking would it lock my ecu like the new cars so I cant install the map back on the car??

I wouldn't have thought that a dealer flash update alone would lock your ecu bearing in mind that revo was able to install their flash on it.
I think the "locked" ecu is dependent on the hardware version of ecu that's in your car from the factory.
