30mm Springs & 18x8
« on: May 07, 2011, 02:19:56 pm »
I'm currently on 20mm AP springs. They're superb in their ride comfort and cornering ability, at least for what I'm looking for anyway. I can't fault their performance.

I simply want a slightly lower drop, particularly at the rear.
I'm on 18x8 Turinis.

It's essential that I can use full lock and also have 2/3 passengers in the rear of the car occassionally.
If I drop another 10mm and put 30mm springs on front and rear, will I experience rubbing in the above scenarios or will this be usable?

Thanks  :happy2:
Pete

I can't see it being a problem then, again ET 45 to 48 would be better. Mine was very low, 295mm from center to lower part of front fender with no issues, although my rims is 7,5x18 ET 51.

Over the top mod list ;o)

All be it on a Mk6 I had the speedlines with 40mm drop and had no major issues. Just needed to do the normal arch screw mod  :happy2:

Thanks both of you :happy2:

Were they the 40mm H&R springs similar to the 30mm ones you ran on your Ed30 Steve? Ta.

I remember this vaguely, but does the arch screw mod only apply to the front?

I may put 30mm springs on only the rear.

Not wise then?

Purely because the rear sits a little high, whereas the front is fine.

Even same brand i.e. AP 30mm springs at the rear?

I'm looking at stupid options as I can't justify £500 on some coilovers just for cosmetics  :sad1: Fair enough re. the spring rate :happy2: Cheers.
