If you are going for motorsport i would lean toward a 400mm Steve, there is a BIG difference between a 300mm and a 400mm. Canon and Nikkor are both superb but i have a used Sigma 135-400 which altho a bit soft at the top end is excellent and you can get them for less than £400 on fleabay. Cameras are as per cars, you pay for what you get..........
