simple check to do is cover the ends of the exhaust up with your hands with something over them and listen for anything that sounds like blowing or jack the car up and look on the exhaust for any black soot like marks on it as that will be the sighn u have a prob

What he means is. if the exhaust has a hole in it somewhere then you may be able to see soot marks where the hole is similar to the soot that you see at the tips.
